Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
This policy explains how Shift Consulting, a division of GoodShift Private Limited ("we", "us"), handles personal data. We are the data fiduciary for the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Because recruitment involves handling people's careers, this policy is written to be read, not skimmed past.
The short version for candidates: we only share your details with a company after you have said yes to that specific role. We never sell your data, we never add you to a list that gets sold, and you can ask us to delete everything at any time.
1. Data we collect about candidates
- What you send us — your name, contact details, CV, employment history, education, skills, portfolio or code samples, notice period and salary expectations.
- Interview data — where you take an assessment with us: your answers, a transcript of the session, scores against the rubric, any code you write, and the resulting evaluation report.
- Integrity check results — only where a client has requested them and only after you have consented on screen. These are limited to environment signals; we do not covertly record you.
- Correspondence — our email and message history with you.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, caste, religion, health information, government identity numbers or bank details during a search. If a client requires background verification, that is a separate process and will be explained and consented to separately.
2. Data we collect about clients
Business contact details for the people we deal with at hiring companies, the role brief, and the correspondence and contractual records of the engagement.
3. Why we use it, and on what basis
- To carry out a search you have asked to be part of — on your consent.
- To assess you fairly against a rubric and produce the evaluation report — on your consent, given before the interview.
- To introduce you to a specific client — only with your consent for that role.
- To run the business — contracts, invoicing, accounting and tax records, as required by law.
We do not use candidate data for advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.
4. Automated processing and AI
Our interview platform, CypherMeet, uses automated systems including large language models to transcribe sessions, score answers against the rubric and draft summaries. No hiring decision is made automatically. A person reviews every report before it leaves us, and the decision to hire is always the client's. If you would like a human explanation of anything in your report, ask and we will give it.
5. Who we share it with
- The client for a specific role — your CV and evaluation report, after you have agreed to be put forward for that role.
- Service providers who host our systems, email and interview platform, acting on our instructions.
- Professional advisers — accountants and legal advisers, where required.
- Authorities — where we are legally obliged to disclose.
We never share your details with a company you have not agreed to, and we do not circulate candidate databases.
6. How long we keep it
- Active candidates — for the duration of the search and for 12 months afterwards, so we can contact you about suitable roles.
- Interview recordings and transcripts — for 6 months, then deleted. The evaluation report is retained with your candidate record.
- Placed candidates — records relating to the placement are kept for as long as the contract with the client requires, and for the periods required by tax and company law.
- Client records — for the duration of the relationship and the statutory retention period afterwards.
You can ask us to delete your data sooner and we will, unless we are legally required to keep a specific record.
7. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may ask us to:
- tell you what personal data of yours we hold and how we are using it;
- give you a copy of your evaluation report — which we send you anyway;
- correct or complete anything inaccurate;
- erase data we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
- withdraw a consent you previously gave us; and
- nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf.
Write to info@shiftconsulting.in. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls and reputable infrastructure providers, and we limit access to candidate data to the people working on your search. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal data we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as required by law.
9. This website
shiftconsulting.in is a static informational site. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If you use the light/dark theme switch, that preference is stored in your own browser and never reaches us. Our hosting provider records standard server logs for security and reliability.
10. Children
Our services are not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be highlighted here.
